Parent coaching can be confronting, as it invites parents to step back and reflect on how their own actions, emotions, and responses may be influencing their child. Many of us find ourselves in the position of having to reparent ourselves whilst also trying to parent our children which can feel overwhelming and exhausting at times. The rewards of doing this however, are immeasurable, and can have a ripple effect in all aspects of our life and relationships.
Parent coaching is not about striving for perfection, but about becoming more aware and open to adjusting behaviors that support your child’s growth and well-being as well as your own. I provide parents with the tools to better understand their child's underlying needs, identify the obstacles getting in the way and develop tangible strategies to effectively meet their child's needs and their own.
I believe that 'kids do well if they can' and that our role as adults is to identify what lagging skills or unmet needs might be getting in their way and to help them with this through skill building and relationship building.
I guide children in understanding their behavior and safely exploring their emotions by teaching them about the connection between their brains and bodies. My focus is on helping children identify the tools and strategies that work best for them, while also developing the communication skills needed to advocate for their needs effectively.
The Circle of Security Parenting Program is based on decades of research about how secure parent-child relationships can be supported and strengthened. For more information please visit Circle of Security International.
The Circle of Security Parenting program is a group program that covers eight separate chapters over eight consecutive sessions, with each chapter building on the previous one.
